There once was a time when I thought being sober would mean that I would don my cap of Puritanical Goodness and belly up to the bar of all things holy. Sunday church services. Early morning gym workouts. Meditative strolls through my backyard garden as I prayed in solitude. Chanting! Prayer! Reflection! Service!
Dude, don't kid.
It's Sunday morning and the best I could pull off was a doughnut run with Billy Squire blaring and a quick pass by the video store to drop off vampire videos. I think the Methodists on Quarrier Street could smell a sinner even before I made it halfway home. At least I'm honest. That's virtuous, right?
Stroke me. Heh.
I'm SO not holy.

STROKE! STROKE! STROKE! WOOO!
LMAO Kristin. I just love you! :-)
Hah! Jess's comment cracked me up. So did your post. Holy moly, I'm glad I'm sober and have fun like this!
I guess it depends on your definition of holy.
hey hey hey, there's noting wrong with going to the gym early in the morning. It DOES NOT make me holy, it just proves I'm CRAZY.
I think honesty is right there next to Godliness! And donuts are sooo holey! LOL
Indeed. Doughnuts ARE hol(e)y. What in the world was I thinking?
So, Tony. Are you a Methodist?
There are a lot more of us sinners, than there are saints..
You're on to something however--I'm going to start calling my early morning gym work outs "church":)
I've really missed you. You still make me smile!
I wonder if cleaning the house counts as church.
This post reminds me of religion versus spirituality. Holy - not holy - I know this, you are spiritual. That's all that matters to me, my friend.

Yes, Madison. Cleaning the house does count.
I did have a donut today. Hey....
jeNN
Sounds like our sunday...get up, watch cartoons, talk about music, vampires, werewolves. Eat Cheerios (which are holy) then just sit back and enjoy the day...isn't that what it's for?
Sounds like a great morning to me...
Oh, Methodists though, not big on judgey stuff...not real big on sinner theology here...LOL

I've never been holy or sanctimonious. I prefer the idea of just being spiritual.
I almost passed up on AA because I thought it was a religious affiliation. Thankfully my first meeting I heard someone say your higher power can be whatever you want it to be. Someone even said it was the metal chair they were sitting in, as it supported them through each meeting. I came to believe my higher power was the person I envisioned myself as sober. (Hugs)Indigo
Brilliant Kristin. Sin is just a perception, to me it is a sin to limit the praise of the Divine one to box constucted of man made materials. If donuts, vampire flicks, and Billy Squire give you serenity and peace then that is Holiness for you. I am partial to chocolate cake with extra thick whip topping and the Indigo Girls or Neil Young.
Hope all is well with you, miss your post and you are in my prayers.
Hugs from Nebraska!
